Use this form to have your event listed on this site. Events submitted here are also considered for inclusion in the main newsletter seen by many thousands! Even if not included in the newsletter your event will appear on calendar pages. You will be able to change, copy or even delete your entry freely at any time in the future.
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS TWICE BEFORE POSTING!
The editor gets VERY annoyed by entries that need lots of cleaning up.
Follow EVERY ONE of the instructions below or your event may be deleted.
  1. KEEP IT CLEAN: ABSOLUTELY Do not use vulgar or explicit sexual or adult language.
  2. LOCAL ONLY: Only submit events in the Chicago and near suburban area. Wisconsin, Indiana, and even Champaign/Urbana are too far in most cases.
  3. NO DATING: Due to numerous horrific experiences, postings from dating sites/services and n-minute date type events are no longer accepted.
  4. BE CONFIRMABLE: Preferential listing here requires that your event be easily confirmed on the web. Lack of an authoritative website for an event may cause it to not appear in the newsletter, or to be marked as unconfirmed. MAKE SURE to include venue phone number.
  5. KEEP IT CONCISE: Keep your entry very concise and fun. The event details section for example should not exceed a few lines. Especially keep the event name and description VERY short. Also do not use too much CAPITALIZATION.
  6. NO LINEBREAKS: In the DETAILS field do not press ENTER. The system will automatically format and word-wrap your entry. Blank lines will also automatically be removed.
  7. NO REDUNDANCY: Nothing should appear anywhere in your submission more than once. For example do not include the place name in the event name. DO not include anything in the description that already appears in some other field.
  8. REPEATING EVENTS: Use the DAYS fields only if your event REOCCURS on a specific day or days (every Friday for example). This function is for automatic repeats only; DO NOT set it if your event is only one day. If you set DAYS you must also set END DATE.
  9. END DAY/DATE: DO NOT use the END DAY, END DATE, DAYS or WEEKS fields unless you understand their function. Use the END DATE or END DAY fields only if your event actually is on several days (Fr-Su for example) or repeats weekly, or runs for a period (such as a play).
  10. OVERNIGHT: For single day events leave the END DAY/DATE fields blank. An event simply crossing midnight IS NOT the same as a two day event.
  11. URLs: Inclusion of a URL for the event, the place, or both is strongly recommended so the readers can get more info, and so the editor can confirm the event. If you don't have a website you may optionally put an email address as a URL and it will appear to the public. Also note, you do not need to include http:// in the URL fields.
  12. YOUR EMAIL: The YOUR EMAIL field is not shown to the public.
  13. NOT TOO MANY: Promoters and venues with many events, only submit those which are particularly special.
  14. VIP OFFERS: Preferential treatment is given to events offering some bonus such as free admission or hosted bar. For details CLICK HERE.
  15. FAVORITE PLACES: Use the FAVES link next to the PLACE field if the event is at a major venue. This will let you pick from a list of places, and automatically fills in complete details such as phone number and directions.
  16. DIRECTIONS: This system automatically creates a MapQuest link to the venue address. Directions you include if any should cover non-obvious aspects such as train stop or nearby intersections.
  17. SEE EXAMPLES: Adhere to the simple format used on this site. See the archive and the example at the end of this page.
  18. CHECK FIRST: Your event may already be in the database. Search the FUTURE EVENTS before posting something redundant.
  19. INSTRUCTIONS: READ and FOLLOW the instructions displayed after you save EXACTLY! Additional reminders will also automatically be emailed to you.
  20. EDITOR APPROVAL: After editor review, you submission will be adjusted, rated, and linked to comments, photos and media where possible. Your event will begin appearing on the sites in 6-48 hours.
  21. RESPONSE RATE: An average event listing here gets 1-6 attendees. There is also a definite branding awareness and search engine indexing effect even to readers who do not immediately attend. Events that are outstanding in terms of close interest to readers, inexpensive, or conveniently located may get dozens of attendees directly from a listing here.
  22. PROMOTIONAL ASSISTANCE: For appropriate events we also offer commercial promotional assistance including web and email advertising. Commercial promotions may directly draw as many as 100 attendees, many of whom may become repeats. For details CLICK HERE.
  23. SUPPORT: If the system gives you ANY trouble contact support.
