I want to receive the award winning weekly Chicago entertainment newsletter.
Simply enter your email in the JOIN form at the top of every page and click JOIN. You will be added to the Newsletter mailing list. You can then also join any of a dozen other special interest mailing lists (Groups) such as clubbers, vegetarians, movie fans, etc.
How do I set up my NickName here?
Setting up a NickName allows you to better manage your Membership here. Having a NickName lets you change your email address without disruption and to password protect your info. It gives you access the Social system, a message box and chat. And it also improves your mobile access and more. To setup a NickName simply JOIN with your email address from the top of any page. Then answer the name, age range, and sex questions there. Once you have completed these a new dialog will appear prompting you to CREATE A NICKNAME. Further instructions are given there.
How do I get into the Social system and make some Friends?
First, join and create a NickName as described above. Then you must fill in a certain minimum amount of your Bio, such as your birth date and some descriptives. AND the Sex field in your Bio MUST be one of the "Seeking" types such as "Female seeking Male". Then simply proceed to use the match, search, who's online and other Social features. You will be automatically added to the Social Group, and your own Bio will be presented to other Social Friends.
I forgot my NickName or Password.
Use the Login Reminder form. If this form cannot find you by your email address you must have joined using a different one, try others you use. Or you may have more than one account using the same email address. If so contact support.
I joined but I'm not getting the newsletter.
Despite the fact that this is a highly honorable and some Friends are erroneously blocked from receiving mailings by overly aggressive new blocking systems. In particular certain ISPs and filter users (Prodigy, Spew, OutBlaze, WorldSecure, ...), and public school users probably cannot receive the newsletter or other mailings, and may need to use a different email address. If you're not sure you're getting the mailings it's perfectly safe to simply signup again or send yourself a referral and your should get an automatic acknowledgment email.
I need to change my email or password.
If you have created a NickName simply login and edit your PERSONAL SETTINGS.
If you are an email only subscriber simply join again with the new address.
Please remove me from a mailing list.
You must use the QUIT form yourself. Enter your email address where shown (upper/lowercase/spaces do not matter). You will be asked to confirm what lists you can leave. Select which ones you need to be removed from and submit the form. You will automatically be sent a removal acknowledgment. If the remove form says you are not on any list you can believe it. You may be completely mistaken, or you are subscribed under a different address. For best results simply use the personalize Remove link at the bottom of mailings you receive from this site as that link explicitly contains your email address as it appears in the records.
I can't upload my photo.
Please read the instructions on the photo upload page in detail, they're pretty good. The most common error is trying to upload a photo that is bigger (in width, height, or file size) then certain generous limits.
In general, you can't simply upload something from a digital camera for example. You MUST crop and resize first, both to get the best photo, and to keep photos a practical size for browsing. The photo upload page has a link to a great free paint program you can install and use if you have none. Or get a graphics-savvy friend to help. Other problems include filters on at-work web connections, and grossly outdated browsers (current IE recommended). If it absolutely doesn't work for you, email the file to as an attachment. If you don't have any digital photo files of yourself at all you can get a favorite photo scanned and cropped at many Walgreens and grocery store photo department.

I want not to be included in the Social system.
If you have a NickName, and have posted a Bio and maybe a photo and wish to remove them from the Social system, you should first change the Sex field in your Bio to a non-seeking type. Then use the QUIT form and take yourself out of the SOCIAL group. But remember it's free to just leave it alone.
I need to terminate a recurring donation.
To stop a recurring donation, or to end a paid period prematurely you must first login, then use the Termination link at the bottom of your Billing Settings page.
I'm getting an "OOPS..." error message I don't understand.
or I submit a form, and it comes right back to the form or logs me out.
or Chat doesn't work in my browser.
This system was carefully developed to work with virtually all browsers, even the oldest. The ONLY requirement is that your system accept cookies, at least for this domain. See the cookies help above.
Chat also requires the ability for the browser to open a new window (WebTV cannot do this), and accept refresh tags (which may be disabled or unsupported on some browsers). See your browser's help to address this.
Other problems usually relate to a poor Internet connection, or use from computers which clearly have other problems such as virus or driver issue. For best results use current IE. If you CANNOT resolve this it is recommended that you update your browser (and perhaps operating system), or ask a computer whiz friend for help, or
contact support with a detailed description of the problem.

If the system has given you a cookies capability warning you must enable cookies in your browser, at least for this site. To assure your privacy cookies are encrypted using the most rigorous current standards. For details on allowing cookies on your PC lookup COOKIES in the help system built into YOUR BROWSER.
This error MAY also occur if you have returned to a bookmarked Friends only page after logging out. To access Friends area pages you must first login from the homepage.
