Astronettes I'd Like to beFriend
I wish this were a newly coined term, but women must have come up with it before given so many decades of space beefcake history. Works for other professions, for example there's a certain VILF (virologist) I know... There are dozens over history, all brilliant and beautiful. These are just a few recent flyers over 40 years old, arranged by last name.
  • Sandra Magnus (1964.10.30) holds a PhD in materials science and degrees in physics and electrical engineering. She hails from Belleville IL and is a Scorpio. She's spent 134 days in space on ISS and STS missions.

  • Karen LuJean Nyberg (1969.10.07) the 50th woman in space, worked on the STS Kibo segment. She holds a PhD in thermoregulation and graduated summa cum laude in mechanical engineering.

  • Heidemarie M. Stefanyshyn-Piper (1963.02.07) is a Naval officer and holds a masters in mechanical engineering from MIT. She's flown on multiple STS/ISS missions and five space walks.

  • Nicole Marie Passonno Stott (1962.11.19) is an American engineer and a NASA astronaut. She served as a Flight Engineer on ISS Expedition 20 and Expedition 21 and Mission Specialist on STS-129 (and scheduled for STS-133). Born in Albany NY, lives in Clearwater FL, Nicole an instrument rated private pilot and works in jet engine engineering.

  • Peggy Annette Whitson (1960.02.09) "NASA's most experienced astronaut" with over 376 days in space. From Beaconsfield Iowa, has degrees from Wesleyan and Rice. She did major assembly work on the space station.
