Take Ten Deep Breaths
Take Ten Deep Breaths
Then take another ten. This newsletter delayed due to a full day's work lost. The file just went corrupt. I hate computers with a passion. YA WANNA KNOW WHAT ELSE I HATE? In-out-in-out-in-out-in-out... OK. The highlights this week are pretty amazingly big. The family values tour lineup is un-fugging-believable, with Limp Bizkit, Filter, Crystal Method, Staind, Korn, and others! Other top bands this week include Art Of Noise (w/ DJ Warp), Christian Death, Mortis, Godhead, Echo and The Bunnymen, Grand Mal, Digital Underground, They Might Be Giants, Government Mule, Ratt, Chlorine, Quiet Riot and more! Chicago International Film Festival and it's kid sister are rolling, including an evening with Ray Harryhausen. The Personal Property of Marilyn Monroe will be on display at Christie's and a big diamond studded Cartier exhibit opens at the Field. Many will have Columbus Day off, always a decent parade. To further celebrate Italian-ness there's a big Italian arts thing at the Cultural Center and Italian food/wine/music at Daley Plaza. Also noteworthy this weekend: the Women Writers Conference, the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, the Joffrey Ballet fall program 1, Spirit (a Native American based dance spectacular) opens and the ALS Mammoth Music Mart ends, Finally, this week includes the Anniversary of the great Chicago fire (1871), Canadian Thanksgiving, National Children's Day, Julia Child and Jaques Pepin book signing, farmers markets and phor phellow phreaks like me, Phriday is a lecture about Bakelite and the SpaceGhost season premier, and on Sunday Graceland Cemetery begins their weekly family walking tours! I feel better now.
