Dance! Dance!! Dance!!!
Dance! Dance!! Dance!!!
Nobody is really watching, and if they are, hopefully they're loving enough not to mind no matter how weird you move. Compliment strangers, and try not too toss to much sweat. In your face winter, this week is packed with body heat. I intend to be at Wednesday's Seminar (with new dance space) and the BrockOut (first since November), and one of the THREE weekend raves! There's also House legends, Little Richard and Teena Marie at HOB, and all the standard great dance theme nights in town such as Friktion Sunday, Milk Monday, Nocturna and Testosterone Tuesday, Women Obsession and Sonic Wednesday. Chicago's Next Dance Festival begins, but nothing'll beat the BrockOut on Thursday, at the start of Aquarius, during a Full Lunar Eclipse! This week you can also hear TLC, Maintenance Of Order, Made To Fade, Premium, The Blank Theory, Blue Oyster Cult and (GASP!) Lounge Ax closes. Reflect, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, really. He had a dream. Skate on State and Wheel Lives continue, Dinosaur bones take up residency at the Pier and Midnight Circus does a few shows. There's a Twilight Tales gathering, Benjamin Franklin's Birthday, and the Bulls host three games. Ice Cube's new film is out, and I plan to see Bringing Out The Dead at Brew&View as well as Upright Citizens Brigade and Championship Figure Skating. I dance, therefore I am. Contact me if you wanna hook up. PLUR!

BrockOut THIRD ANNIVERSARY! "Absolute Heavyweight Business" THE don't miss Drum-n-Bass night. $5 8p.
Since Feb.97 some of the best nights in my life have included one or more of these guys spinning. The crowd is bright, casual, colorful, musical, physical, diverse, open, and young speckled with elders. The music is an intensely energetic, dark, comical, subtle, throbbing, bizarre fusion of art/punk/cyberdance for which I waited my whole life. Sadly, got too crowded on past anniversaries. Come only if you're a fan or really intrigued. Moshy by 11p. Did I hear something about sound system improvements having been made?
Contact me if you wanna hook up for this.
