Celebrate Drum&Bass, Women, and The Irish!
Celebrate Drum&Bass, Women, and The Irish!
Add a dash of spice, mmmmmm, my favorite combo :) Chicago drum&bass week starts Monday honey. That's a series of events recommended to people who are or might be interested in dance music of the edgier kind. MadBar Monday will have break-beats and break-dancers, Tuesday at Rapture hear something more undaground, Wednesday at BigWig things REALLY start screamin, and Thursday at Liar's Club will be stark raving mad! (This continues next week w/ Grooverider and more)

National Women's History Month is well observed with International art by women at WomanMade, the Flames Women's Gymnastics competition, Women In The Director's Chair Film Fest and more (Berlin's Women Obsession doesn't count).

The Irish sure make their presence know. No less than AL GORE hosts our 45th Saint Patrick's Day parade, it's an Irish party all day at Abbey Pub and Under The Picasso performances are Irish oriented all week; the Drovers and Whirligig play, The Irish and How They Got That Way continues its run, and the H.W.library has a quality exhibit on The Story of Irish Immigration! Alright already, viva la Irish!

Other than drum&bass, this week you can hear Whimsical, Peter Murphy, Rahzel, MixMaster Mike, Choclair, Korn, Steel Pulse, G. Love and Special Sauce, The Saw Doctors, /bin, two raves and a Zappa tribute. Disney on Ice, the Shriners Circus and A Midsummer Night's Dream end this weekend, but Measure For Measure continues its run.

Now for the Wisconsin Table spice: Dunkin donuts are 5 cents on Monday, the Bulls host Utah, Chicago Film Critics are Awarded, In-line Skaters Gather at Melvin's Wednesday, Mission To Mars opens, Man On The Moon is at B&V, the Dead Sea Scrolls are now on display at the Field, Merce Cunningham Dance Company has a rare performance, the Chicago Flower and Garden Show opens and the Iron Chef does Pork Belly Battle.
