Better Late Than Never
Better Late Than Never
Not just an excuse for losers, it's a truism, applicable to such things as the coming of warm weather, periods, and getting out of jail. In a wonderful sweeps stunt, jail is where Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect broadcasts all week, with inmate guests and a captive audience. In other temporal news this week Dragon Room celebrates two years, Barnum's "Kaleidoscope" Circus and the Chicago Improv Festival end, The Flinstones in Viva Rock Vegas opens and the elder honoring Silver Images Film Festival begins. The Israel Film Festival also begins and Shimon Perez is coming to speak about peace (no relation). I finally saw BlueMan and totally dug it. Chicago does peculiar theatre well. Standouts this week include Betty Paige uncensored, a Skinhead version of Hamlet, and Low Sodium's The Evil Show, whose ads say "Don't come!". Do come to U.R. Magazine's Kiss'n'Tell game at Funky Buddha (if single), or Amigas Latinas bowling/mingling night (if sapphic), or the great Wednesday group skate (if qualified) or the American Craft Council Show/Market at the pier (if bored). Earth Month (aka April) is coming to a close. Final rallies include Arbor Day and a Critical Mass bicyclists gathering Friday, and Sunday's Earth Wisdom Labyrinth event in Elgin, ten band Save The Earth benefit at Double Door and Earth Day party at Fifth Floor Lounge. Better tell work now that you not coming in Monday. Tell them you've gone communist and have to attend the May Day events. Then you can enjoy Sunday's Walpurgis Night, New Power Party at Berlin, and all new FOX cartoons without worries about being late. Attorneys, you'll just have to start observing Law Week on Tuesday. Tunage this week includes Kill Hannah (w/ Todd Rundgren?), Vibeonauts: United We Dance, The The, Supreme Beings Of Leisure and a Liquid Soul CD release party at Metro; Electric Hellfire Club at Mutiny; Dave Ralph at Rednofive; DJ Logic at Double Door; Jungle Brothers, Mos Def and Bon Jovi at House of Blues; two good raves and Psychosis pre-parties at Eden, BigWig and Dragon Room; and Dragon Room; and Pulz-8 spinning at the IIT Bonfire Party Friday night. I CAN'T WAIT!!!
