Unity In Diversity

Unity In Variety

It's just your average looooong Chicago holiday weekend, filled with bikes, memorials, drum&bass, fireworks, comedy, leather, and cartoons. Bike month continues with many peddling downtown Friday morning, and again gathering in the evening for a special ride, reminding us that cars are not the future. Also gathering downtown are the world's elite Leather Fans. Watch for them. Makes me think about buying chaps. Todd Rundgren plays the Pier Friday, and drum&bass headz have three scenes to pass the evening. Saturday begins with a parade and it's a long one; attended by the mayor, veterans, families, and manly men. Rock Music Collectibles enthusiasts may miss it however for a different one day only event. The party gets hotter Saturday at the Pier and Monroe Harbor with XRT concerts climaxing in the year's first Fireworks show. Other good weekend treats include the deluxe Art League Festival at Northbrook Court and a big sale and 16mm Film Jamboree at Chris and Heather's. The Indianapolis 500 and Rick Springfield happen Sunday (no relation), as well as DayRa at MadBar and the FOURTH ANNIVERSARY New Power Party at Berlin. Sunday night offers the massive GeniusInsanity.com Showcase dance party at Metro, though I personally strongly recommend the more challenging music of SEQUENCE at Fuse. FREE DRINKS from 9- 10p! Put on your solemn face Monday, and reflect on the lives lost to war and cigarettes, as cartoons and dance music play all day. There is no Tuesday this week, which should all the more sweeten The Backyard Variety Show at HotHouse, the premier of Clerks the Animated Series, several group skates, Ascension Day, Primal Scream, the start of the Chicago Comedy Festival and a Cultural Center Tribute to Charles M. Schulz. VIVA LA DIFFERANCE!

Notes: ^

I recently bought Mid Town Madness and it is WONDERFUL. This MicroSoft racing game simulates driving through CHICAGO, living a fantasy, racing from Airport to Airport and everything in between, in 3D in your choice of hot cars, including a police cruiser, bus, truck, etc. It's so good I went out and bought the steering wheel controller. ZOOM!
SEQUENCE at Fuse last Sunday was terrific as expected, Ry-N and KC are the HARDEST drum&bass DJs.
I heard several good Redno5 reviews this week. Lastly, did anyone see Tom Green's surgery? Ewwwwwww!
