4700N - Leland:
More beautiful park. Sometimes sports going on. Waterfront here is still huge rocks.
See this photo.

4600N - Wilson:
Getting more crowded. This corner has a good ramp, dense trees and benches. To the left is a turnoff leading to recreation areas, and the jet ski launch area I think.

Surf the Park District's Lakefront Parks Map web pages.

4400N - Montrose:
Careful at the intersection, it's wide and busy but perfect visibility. To the left leads to good blading at the beach and point. My son and I blaked to the end of this pier to watch the 1999 air show and felt it was excellent! Streets busy with boaters in summer. Taking the path South across Montrose has the best ramp on the whole path. I've cleared six feet launching here, but of course only when there are NO CARS.

4300N - Hutchinson:
More beautiful park. To the East Waveland golf course begins.

Surf the City's Golf Course web page.

4200N - Buena:
The underpass from Sheridan (where there is a fountain) ends here in Peace Garden, a lovely grotto with water. The path wraps gracefully around the garden, which has a stone ramp on one side and stone stairs on the other.

4150N - Junior:
A couple of twists leads to this weird stretch. A little chunky, narrow, and right between golf and Lake Shore Drive. Funny when heading North at afternoon rush hour, going faster than the cars.

4100N - Cuyler:
Zoom, picking up speed (or start putting on the power if Northbound).
See this photo.

4000N - Irving Park:
Whoosh, like a gravity assist planetary flyby. Coming out, choose the upper or lower path. Recreation drive starts here, taking cars to parking and harbor.

Visit the Graceland Cemetery, 773/525-1105, 4001 N Clark.

3900N - Dakin:
Wrapping around the end of the golf course, the lower path leads to a really fine cafe.
See this photo and this photo.

3800N - Grace:
Tennis, tennis, tennis, golfers and baseball. Very NorthShore crowd. I've read there's a bird sanctuary to the East. Imperfect pavement.

3700N - Waveland:
Shady benches here, then cross a little street and some bad path. Course winds next few miles.
See this photo.

3600N - Addison:
A path highlight, the totem pole. Read the story, feel the energy, watch the spiked fence. Upper and lower paths reunite here.
See this photo and this photo.
Surf the City's Totem Pole web page.

3550N - Brompton:
Nice new paths and fountain. Watch for cars. Choose harbor side (rougher) or upper path.
See this photo.

3500N - Cornelia:
Nice varied challenge course, but watch the peds, several playgrounds, and people fishing.
See this photo and this photo.

3400N - Roscoe:
Another highlight of the path, Doggie Beach. It's amazing to watch all the races playing together here; a clear lesson to us humans. Watch the sand.

Visit the Chicago Diner, 773/935-6696, 3411 N Halsted. Just a few blocks West, one of my very favorite restaurants.

3300N - Aldine:
Coming up on the Yacht Club building, where some city watercraft moor. Careful about rough pavement and dense traffic.
See this photo.
Visit the Chicago Yacht Club, 300 W Belmont, 773/477-6951.
