Do Wheels Still Outnumber Microchips?

Do Wheels Still Outnumber Microchips?

I sure hope so. It's BIKE MONTH! For the next 30 odd days the calendar is studded with reminders that cars are an inferior solution. If your wheels are getting dusty, take this opportunity. The mayor himself is slated to be in Friday's long lakefront ride (weather permitting). Later Friday there are four top notch dance events including the anime themed Rave In The Shell, Derrick May, Leddie Garcia, Frank Orrall, Colette, Lady D, and Cedric at Zentra, phantom45, inbum, flip, anacron, and others auctioned at digitalis, and my recommendation, Green Velvet, Traxx, Funk, and Nosmo at Metro. The weekends are getting fuller as summer approaches. Scheduled this Sat/Sun are the 5th Lakeview Mayfest, the Safe Boating Celebration at the pier, a huge plant sale at Chicago Botanic Gardens, the American Science and Surplus tent sale and a flurry of tours publicising Chicago Architecture. Saturday is LOUD! with Punk-O-Rama Tour coming to the Vic, Q101 Jamboree with Third Eye Blind, Everclear, Moby, 311, Suicide Machines, Travis, Bloodhound Gang, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Eve 6, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Goldfinger, two rave, and my personal favorite, TigerStyle 2000. There will also be good scenes at Dragon Room and Berlin. Ahhhhh, living in a city with too many choice! Speaking of bikes, you must not get out much if you didn't know Walk&Roll is Sunday; the very popular and uniquely inclusive charity event to fight cancer. I'll be proudly doing Nation Skate Patrol Duty there, Randolph at the lake by 9a. Sunday is also the start of Gemini, and Logan Square's wonderful Redmoon theater opens Hunchback; also Chicago Chamber Musicians perform a new work for "Sue" at the Field and the Dagar ensemble sings dhrupad (?!?); also season finale's of the Fox cartoons; but best of all, a decent sounding new drum&bass night at Fuse! Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday the usual group skates and themed dance club nights continue and Frankie Goes To Hollywood is coming to Elbo Room. Finally, let's not forget Armed Forces Day, the National Restaurant Association show, Karlheinz Essl merging art and science at DeadTech, and notably special Twilight Tales and Psychotronic Film get togethers. Keep on rolling!
