TVLink User Guide
SETTING UP YOUR TVLink
1. Place the TVLink in a good location, with a direct line
of sight to your usually viewing location, possibly on top of
your TV.
2. Connect the cable from the supplied DC adapter to the back
of the TVLink, DC IN connector. Plug the adapter
in to a standard household AC power outlet. Never use any adapter
other than the one supplied.
3. Connect the TVLink AUDIO/VIDEO connections to
the proper connections on your TV. If your TV does not have direct
audio/video connectors, connect the TVLink RF OUT
connector to the antenna connector on your TV. The antenna cable that was
originally connected to your TV (from an antenna, or cable box, or VCR)
should be connected to the TVLink RF IN connector.
4. Make sure the TV is set to VIDEO IN, or in case of an antenna
connection, set the TV to channel 3.
5. Connect a phone cord from one of your household phone jacks,
to the TVLink LINE connector. This must be a working
phone line, capable of giving a dial tone if a phone were plugged
in to it.
6. Look at the front of the TVLink. A red light should
appear on the TVLink. If not, check the AC adapter.
7. Point the TVLink remote control at the TVLink
and press POWER. A green light should appear on the TVLink,
and an opening screen should appear on your TV. If the green light
does not come on, or the opening screen does not appear, try again.
If it still does not work, there may be a problem with the remote. Check
it's batteries. If the green light comes on, but the opening screen does
not appear, the video or antenna connection to your TV may not be
correct.
8. Press the SETUP button on the TVLink remote control.
Your TV should change to show a box for entering a phone number.
Using the TVLink remote control, type in the access phone
number supplied to you by your TVLink Service Provider.
When finished press the GO button on the remote. The number
is now programmed and will stay in the TVLink's memory
(this phone number may change from time to time).
USING YOUR TVLink
1. Press the GO button on the TVLink remote control.
If your TV's volume is not turned all the way down, you should
be able to hear the modem inside the TVLink dialing. The
screen should show the progress of the call.
2. When the TVLink Server answers and a connection is made, the
yellow light on the TVLink will come on. This indicates that a
conversation is taking place between the unit and the server.
If a connection is not made, try again. If it still does not
connect, double check the phone number and phone line.
3. A main menu should appear with several choices. On most screens
you will see using TVLink, selections are made by pressing
number keys.
4. When you are done using the TVLink, press QUIT
one or more times to end your session and disconnect, or simply
press POWER to hang-up within a few seconds.
5. Enjoy!
Phone Line Quality
Some telephone lines are better than others. If your line has a lot
of static, or makes crackling noises, or hiss, or sounds particularly
quiet, you may have a poor quality phone line. A TVLink may
lock-up ("freeze") while being used, if it is on a poor
quality phone line. Simply turn it off and back on using the POWER
button, then place the call again. It may be necessary to unplug the
TVLink from its power supply in order to restart it.
